Our department proudly marked its presence at the 43rd Annual MP ASICON 2026 Conference, held from 6th to 8th February 2026 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Indore, with the enthusiastic participation of nineteen postgraduate residents. The conference served as a distinguished academic platform, enabling our residents to engage with contemporary surgical advancements and meaningful scholarly exchange.
Demonstrating remarkable academic commitment, eleven postgraduates presented scientific posters, while nine residents delivered paper presentations. In a moment of great pride for the institution, Dr.ShivamNagaich was conferred the Best Free Paper Award, reflecting the high standard of research and academic excellence consistently upheld by our department.
The department made a significant academic impact through the active involvement of its senior faculty. Dr.Krishnanand, Professor and Head of the Department of General Surgery, delivered an expert talk on the management of large hiatus hernia and chaired a scientific session on perineal procedures for rectal prolapse. Dr.Navneet Mishra, Professor, also chaired a scientific session on colorectal diseases. Their contributions were widely appreciated for their depth, clinical relevance, and academic rigor, and played a key role in enriching the scientific deliberations of the conference.
The scientific program was both comprehensive and inspiring. Dr.DebashishSen and Dr.Sarthak Sharmarepresented the department in the highly competitive PG quiz, exemplifying academic enthusiasm and teamwork. Delegates benefited from stimulating academic sessions, witnessed live demonstrations of robotic surgery underscoring the future of surgical practice, and enhanced their technical skills through hands-on training on endo trainers.
Beyond the academic rigor, the conference provided valuable opportunities for professional networking and collegial interaction. The gala evening added a celebratory dimension, fostering camaraderie through cultural performances, music, and dance.
