LNCT University’s School of Architecture conducted a Study tour for 1st Semester and 3rd Semester students of Architecture, to make students aware of manufacturing process of Bricks, materials required, methods adopted and comparison of quality of bricks to Sukhi Sewania at Vidisha Road.

Students learnt to make the bricks by doing all the work by themselves, mixing of materials, processing, making and baking the bricks in kilns. Students were taught to compare first class, second class, and the third class bricks.

Next they were taken to Sanchi Stupa, to expose them to Hisory of Architecture related to Buddha, Ashoka and Jain buddhism etc. The relevance and importance of Stupa, its history and religious belief associated with Sanchi. The monuments at Sanchi today comprise a series of Buddhist monuments starting from the Maurya Empire period (3rd century BCE), continuing with the Gupta Empire period (5th century CE), and ending around the 12th century CE. It is probably the best preserved group of Buddhist monuments in India. The oldest, and also the largest monument, is the Great Stupa also called Stupa No. 1, initially built under the Mauryas, and adorned with one of the Pillars of Ashoka.
Hence students of both semesters were given detail knowledge of construction techniques and HISTORY OF ARCHITECTURE.
