The 61st Independence Day of The Gambia was celebrated with great enthusiasm at LNCT University on February 14, 2026. The national flags of India and The Gambia were hoisted on the university campus, followed by the national anthems of both countries. A vibrant cultural program held in the university auditorium added color and energy to the celebrations, making the event memorable.
Gambian Embassy Shows Trust in LNCT University
LNCT University, one of Central India’s leading private universities, successfully hosted this international event. The program was graced by the presence of Aji Fatoumata Joof, First Secretary, Embassy of The Gambia;and Indrani Mule, Advisor, African Student Association, Embassy of The Gambia. Also present were LNCT University Chancellor Jai Narayan Chouksey, Executive Director Pooja Shree Chouksey, Director Dharmendra Gupta, and Vice-Chancellor Dr N.K. Thapak. During the event, around 200 students from The Gambia also received free medical check-ups.
A Proud and Emotional Moment for African Students for more than 200 students from African countries studying at LNCT University, the celebration was both emotional and a moment of pride. The joint flag hoisting of India and The Gambia symbolized friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
India–Gambia Cultural Performances Steal the Spotlight
Indian classical and folk dances, along with traditional Gambian dance, music, and cultural performances, showcased the rich heritage of both nations. The program strengthened cultural exchange and brought new enthusiasm among the youth.
“Such an Event Held for the First Time” – Aji Fatoumata Joof
Aji Fatoumata Joof, First Secretary of the Embassy of The Gambia, thanked the LNCT University family for organizing the grand celebration of The Gambia’s 61st Independence Day. She stated that such an event being held at a private university in India is a first and reflects the strong friendship between the two countries. She added that the program helped Gambian students feel connected to their homeland while strengthening India–Gambia cultural ties.
A Strong Example of Multicultural Education: Jai Narayan Chouksey
LNCT University Founder Jai Narayan Chouksey described the event as a historic achievement for India and Madhya Pradesh. He said that hosting the national independence day of an African nation on campus reflects the university’s global outlook and international trust. He also highlighted that students from Africa and many other countries are studying at the university, demonstrating a multicultural and inclusive academic environment.
Announcement of Special Scholarships
Executive Director Pooja Shree Chouksey described the celebration as a symbol of strengthening educational and cultural relations between India and Africa. She reaffirmed LNCT University’s commitment to providing quality education and better opportunities for international students. On this occasion, she announced special scholarships for students from The Gambia to support their higher education and help them advance academically. She expressed confidence that this initiative would open new avenues for education, research, and cultural exchange between the two nations and provide students with opportunities to showcase their talent globally.
